031425: Things that made life special this week
A crisp new blush, crisp new socks, and a crisp new jumpsuit... if I'm lucky. And more
Hello and welcome to Things That Made Life Special This Week, a celebration of the pursuits that add a little something extra to the everyday.
In case you missed Wednesday’s newsletter, it was a discussion about whether fast furnishings can ever be timeless. Hmmm.

This week’s recs
Trying: Tower 28 GetSet Matte Powder Blush
Full disclosure: Tower 28 was kind enough to send me this blush to try!
It combines a setting powder with blush, and I really liked that it blurs pores and reduces shine. It’s very pigmented, so for a blush application to my taste (lighter; more natural), I blew/shook a lot off the brush before applying. It’s buildable, so you can get the more pigmented look if that’s what you’re into! I took it in color Sawtelle Slushie, a dusty rose.
Also trying: Jumpsuits
I have become obsessed with the idea of getting a jumpsuit… not the most convenient obsession for a long-torsoed and tall person. I tried this one from Alex Mill and it is so cute, such good quality, and would look so good with my new Adidas. I desperately wanted it to work. Alas, it’s too short in the torso for me. If you have more balanced proportions / longer legs-to-torso, I recommend this jumpsuit highly!
Now I’m considering this one from Gap. It comes in Tall, so my hopes are high! Or perhaps this one in khaki or this one in blue denim from Madewell?
Buying: New socks!
Is it a spring thing to refresh your sock wardrobe, or just me? The “pop of red” sock trend is lots of fun, so I’m extending it to be a “pop of any color” sock this spring and summer. I bought this modern rib 4-pack and this ultra-stretch 4-pack. I like the fit and look of the modern rib best, and also picked up a navy pair. Cute with loafers, sneaks, ballet flats.
Doing: Going out to dinner as a family!
I haven’t set foot in a restaurant (other than our beloved, baby-friendly Tatte café) since my daughter’s birth, but on Wednesday we went to our other beloved casual neighborhood spot, J.J. Foley’s pub. All three of us! The baby did so well, and I’m proud to be a member of the 5pm crowd for any and all forthcoming restaurant dinners.
Last month, paid subscribers got a renovation update about the old French house and a list of my pregnancy must-haves. This month, they’ll get another renovation update and a list of my postpartum must-haves. Please consider upgrading to paid!
Have a great weekend!
xx Jane
